National Pandit Sammelan at Sri Sri University Reinforces India’s Vaidic Heritage
In an inspiring initiative aimed at preserving and promoting India’s timeless Vaidic traditions, the Vaidic Dharma Sansthan successfully organized a week-long National Pandit Sammelan at Sri Sri University, Cuttack, Odisha, from 20th to 26th May 2026. The Sammelan brought together 75 pandits from ten states across India for an intensive training and spiritual enrichment programme focused on authentic Vaidic practices, rituals and teachings. The event was organized under the guidance and inspiration of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, globally renowned spiritual leader and founder of The Art of Living. Through this significant gathering, Vaidic Dharma Sansthan reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of India while empowering pandits with authentic knowledge and practical training rooted in the Vaidic tradition.
A Gathering of Vaidic Scholars from Across
India
The National Pandit Sammelan witnessed enthusiastic participation from pandits representing a diverse range of regions and cultural traditions. Participants travelled from Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab making the event a truly national congregation of Vaidic scholars and practitioners.
The gathering provided a unique platform for interaction, learning and exchange
of knowledge among pandits belonging to different parts of the country. Despite
regional variations in customs and practices, the participants shared a common
objective: strengthening their understanding of authentic Vaidic rituals and
contributing to the preservation of India’s ancient spiritual wisdom.
One of the primary objectives of the Sammelan was to provide comprehensive training in the traditional methods of conducting Puja and Homa according to the authentic Vaidic Paddhati. In recent times, there has been a growing need to preserve the purity and accuracy of Vaidic rituals, ensuring that sacred ceremonies continue to be performed in accordance with scriptural guidelines.
Throughout the seven-day
programme, participants underwent extensive training in Vaidic chantings, sacred
mantras, ritual procedures and the deeper spiritual significance associated
with various forms of worship. The sessions emphasized not only the technical
aspects of performing rituals but also the philosophical and spiritual
principles underlying them. By combining practical instruction with spiritual
understanding, the Sammelan enabled participants to deepen their knowledge and
enhance their ability to serve communities through authentic Vaidic practices.
Expert Guidance and Comprehensive Training
The success of the programme was greatly enriched by the contributions of experienced trainers and scholars associated with the Bengaluru Ashram and The Art of Living. The entire Sammelan was efficiently coordinated by Shri Suraj Kumar Jha, whose meticulous planning and leadership ensured the smooth execution of the week-long event. Under his guidance, participants experienced a well-structured programme that balanced rigorous training with opportunities for spiritual growth and personal development.
Training in Veda studies and Vaidic mantra chanting was imparted by Shri Bhuban Pandey and Shri Bhisma Pandey from Bengaluru Ashram. Their sessions focused on the correct pronunciation, intonation, rhythm and spiritual significance of Vaidic recitations.
The
trainers emphasized the importance of preserving the purity of Vaidic sounds,
which have been transmitted through oral traditions for thousands of years. Participants
expressed deep appreciation for the clarity and depth of instruction provided
during these sessions. Many noted that the programme helped them refine their
chanting techniques and gain a more profound understanding of the sacred texts
they recite in their daily spiritual practices.
Integrating Spiritual Development and
Personal Growth
A distinctive feature of the National Pandit Sammelan was its integration of traditional Vaidic training with modern spiritual development programmes offered by The Art of Living. As part of the event, participants attended The Art of Living Happiness Program, conducted by Shri Himanshu Panda.
The programme introduced participants to practical techniques for stress reduction, emotional well-being, and inner peace. Through breathing techniques, meditation, and wisdom sessions, the participants experienced a holistic approach to spiritual growth. In addition, the pandits also participated in the Sahaj Samadhi Meditation Program, guided by Shri Prititish Mishra and Shri Bholanath Jena.
This meditation programme enabled participants to experience deep states of
rest and mental clarity, helping them connect more deeply with their inner
selves. The inclusion of these programmes highlighted the importance of
combining traditional knowledge with practical tools for personal
transformation. Participants reported feeling rejuvenated, energized, and
spiritually uplifted after attending the sessions.
A Collaborative Effort for a Successful Event
The successful organization of such a large-scale national event required the dedicated efforts of numerous individuals and institutions. The administration of Sri Sri University played a vital role in hosting and supporting the Sammelan. Mr. Saurabh Baweja, Administrative Officer of Sri Sri University, worked closely with the organizing team to ensure seamless logistical arrangements and participant comfort throughout the event.
Equally significant
were the contributions of Mr. Gourav
Sultania, State Coordinator of Vaidic Dharma Sansthan, whose
efforts helped facilitate the smooth planning and execution of the programme.
Their combined dedication created an environment conducive to learning,
reflection, and spiritual growth. The state-of-the-art facilities and serene
campus environment of Sri Sri University provided an ideal setting for the
participants to immerse themselves in the study and practice of Vaidic
traditions.
Inspiring Closing Ceremony
The week-long Sammelan concluded with a grand closing ceremony attended by distinguished dignitaries and spiritual leaders. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Tej Partap, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Sri Sri University, and Swami Satyachaitanya Ji, Director Operations. Their inspiring addresses emphasized the importance of preserving India’s ancient wisdom traditions and highlighted the crucial role played by pandits in maintaining the cultural and spiritual fabric of society.

Sansthan in creating a platform that not only imparts technical knowledge but
also nurtures spiritual values and national cultural consciousness. Their words
of encouragement served as a source of inspiration for the participants,
motivating them to continue their dedicated service in promoting Vaidic
knowledge and practices within their communities.
Renewed Commitment to India’s Spiritual
Heritage
