Alankrit Ignite Opens New Horizons in Architecture and Interior Design for Aspiring Students
In an era where creativity, innovation, and sustainable design are shaping the future of cities and living spaces, architecture and interior design have emerged as some of the most exciting career choices for young minds. Recognising the growing interest in these fields and the need to guide aspiring students, the Faculty of Architecture at Sri Sri University, Cuttack, Odisha, organised Alankrit Ignite, a vibrant open house event dedicated to Architecture and Interior Design on Sunday, 10 May 2026. The event served as an inspiring platform for students and parents to gain a deeper understanding of the academic pathways, career opportunities and creative possibilities available in the design professions. Bringing together aspiring architects, designers, educators, industry experts and alumni, Alankrit Ignite successfully created an engaging environment where participants could explore the dynamic world of design through learning, interaction and hands-on experiences. Students and guardians from schools, colleges and diploma institutes across Odisha enthusiastically participated in the programme. Attendees travelled from various cities, including Rourkela, Sambalpur, Balasore, Kendrapada, Berhampur, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, reflecting the growing interest among young learners in pursuing careers related to the built environment and creative design.
The inaugural ceremony set the tone for the activities
of the day and was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Tej Partap and
Dean Prof. Anisa Azharunnisa. In their addresses, the dignitaries highlighted
the expanding scope of architecture and interior design in contemporary
society. They emphasised how these disciplines go far beyond designing
buildings and interiors, playing a vital role in creating sustainable communities,
improving quality of life and responding to emerging social and environmental
challenges.
Speaking to the gathering, the university
leadership encouraged students to view design as a powerful tool for innovation
and societal transformation. They noted that with rapid urbanisation,
technological advancement and evolving lifestyle needs, professionals in
architecture and interior design are increasingly in demand across diverse
sectors. Their insights helped participants appreciate the relevance of design
education in shaping the future. One of the major highlights of Alankrit Ignite
was the series of interactive hands-on workshops organised by the Faculty of
Architecture. These sessions provided participants with practical exposure to
design principles, creative problem-solving techniques and the design thinking
process. Students actively engaged in activities that encouraged them to
visualise ideas, experiment with concepts and understand how creative solutions
are developed in professional practice.
The workshops were designed not only to introduce technical aspects of
architecture and interior design but also to stimulate imagination and critical
thinking. Through guided exercises and collaborative activities, participants
gained first-hand experience of the creative journey that architects and
interior designers undertake while conceptualising and executing projects. Adding
a technological dimension to the event, visitors were taken on a guided tour of
the recently inaugurated Innovation Lab of Sri Sri University. The facility
showcased advanced technologies that are transforming contemporary design and
architectural practice. Equipped with state-of-the-art tools such as 3D
printers and CNC routers, the Innovation Lab offered students an exciting glimpse
into the future of digital fabrication and design innovation. The tour allowed
participants to witness how ideas can be transformed into tangible models and
prototypes through modern technology. Faculty members explained the
applications of these tools in architectural design, product development and
research helping students understand the intersection of creativity and
technology in the professional landscape of today.
Another enriching component of the programme was the interaction session
with distinguished alumni. The alumni shared their academic journeys,
professional experiences and career achievements, providing valuable guidance
to aspiring designers. Their stories offered a realistic perspective on the
challenges and opportunities within the architecture and interior design
industries.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions
about educational pathways, portfolio development, industry expectations,
internships, and career prospects. The candid discussions helped demystify the
profession and inspired many participants to consider architecture and interior
design as rewarding and impactful career choices. Beyond academics and
professional guidance, Alankrit Ignite also celebrated creativity through
culture and artistic expression. The event concluded with a colourful cultural
presentation that showcased the talents and enthusiasm of students, creating a
lively and festive atmosphere. The performances highlighted the close connection
between art, culture and design, reinforcing the importance of creativity in
all its forms.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Ar. Shakti Nanda, an
eminent architect and photographer, whose presence added further inspiration to
the occasion. Addressing the audience, he shared insights from his professional
journey and encouraged young aspirants to pursue their passions with
dedication, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence. The success of the
programme was acknowledged by the university leadership, including President
Prof. Rajita Kulkarni, Director Operations Swami Satyachaitanya, Executive Registrar
Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma and Deputy Director HR Mr. Jyoti Ranjan Garnayak. They
congratulated the organisers for conducting a meaningful and impactful event
that successfully connected students with the exciting world of architecture
and interior design.
Alankrit Ignite emerged as much more than an open house programme. It became
a gateway for aspiring designers to explore their interests, engage with
experts, and discover the vast possibilities that lie within creative careers.
Through its blend of academic guidance, practical exposure, technological
innovation, and cultural celebration, the event reaffirmed Sri Sri University’s
commitment to nurturing future architects and designers who can contribute meaningfully
to society and shape the spaces of tomorrow.
