The Mega Sports Arena at Sri Sri University: VEERODAYA-2026 Creates History
From thunderous cheers echoing across the fields to moments of nail-biting suspense inside packed arenas, Veerodaya-2026, the Inter-University Sports Festival hosted by Sri Sri University, emerged as a landmark celebration of youth, athletic excellence, and unity through sports. Organized from 18th to 22nd February 2026 at the university’s sprawling campus in Cuttack, Odisha, the five-day mega event brought together the spirit of competition, collaboration, and camaraderie on an unprecedented scale.
A Grand Gathering of Universities and Young
Athletes
Veerodaya-2026
witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 1,000 student-athletes
representing 23 universities from Odisha and other states across India. The
diversity of institutions and regions added to the vibrancy of the festival,
turning the Sri Sri University campus into a melting pot of cultures,
strategies, and sporting styles.
The event featured high-energy competitions across cricket, football, volleyball, kabaddi, and badminton, with volleyball, kabaddi, and badminton being conducted in both men’s and women’s categories. The inclusion of women’s events across multiple disciplines highlighted the festival’s commitment to gender equality and inclusive sports development.
Cricket Glory for the Hosts
Cricket, often described as the heartbeat of Indian sports, delivered some of the most thrilling moments of Veerodaya-2026. Displaying tactical brilliance and team cohesion, Sri Sri University emerged as the champions, delighting home supporters with a well-deserved victory.
The runners-up title was secured by Centurion
University of Technology and Management, whose spirited performance throughout
the tournament earned widespread appreciation.
Volleyball: Power, Precision, and Passion
The volleyball courts remained electrifying throughout the festival. In the men’s volleyball final, C. V. Raman Global University showcased superior teamwork and strategic play to defeat the host team, claiming the championship title.
Equally
captivating was the women’s volleyball final, where Utkal University emerged
victorious after a fiercely contested match against National Law University
Odisha. The match stood as a testament to the rising standard of women’s
volleyball at the university level.
Kabaddi and Football: Strength Meets Strategy
Kabaddi, a sport deeply rooted in Indian tradition, drew massive crowds. In the men’s kabaddi final, SOA University demonstrated exceptional strength, agility, and tactical awareness to defeat C. V. Raman Global University and lift the trophy.
Football lovers were treated to intense action as well. In a high-octane final,
Sarala Birla University overcame Sri Sri University to clinch the football
championship, showcasing disciplined defense and clinical finishing.
Badminton Brilliance Across Categories
The badminton arena was a hub of precision and speed. In the men’s singles final, Arsisman Rajkhowa of KIIT University delivered an outstanding performance to defeat Arya Rath of Birla Global University, securing the singles title.
In the men’s
doubles category, the Centurion University duo Abhijit Maharana and
Smritiranjan Rout displayed remarkable coordination to defeat the pair from C.
V. Raman Global University. The mixed doubles title was claimed by KIIT
University after a competitive victory over Utkal University, adding another
feather to its sporting cap.
A Valedictory Evening to Remember
The festival concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony, celebrating not just victories but the collective spirit of sportsmanship. Mohd. Sahid Jaffar, Vice President of the Football Association of Odisha, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
In his inspiring address, he emphasized the critical role of sports in
shaping students’ careers, instilling discipline, leadership, and resilience. Awards
and trophies were presented by Director Operations Swami Satyachaitanya, ER
Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar Sharma, and Dean Student Welfare Prof. (Dr.) J. P. Bhatt,
who applauded the athletes for their dedication and competitive spirit.
Digital First: Live-Streaming Makes History
One of
the most significant milestones of Veerodaya-2026 was its live-streaming
initiative. For the first time in the festival’s history, several matches were
broadcast online under the supervision of Joint Secretary of the University
Sports Management Committee, Sriram Rautaray. The initiative received lakhs of
views, extending the reach of the festival far beyond the campus and setting a
new benchmark for university sports events. Joint Secretary Dr. Rajat
Baliarsingh presented the comprehensive event report, while Convener Purna
Chandra Panda expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participating universities,
sponsors, officials, referees, volunteers, and organizing members whose
tireless efforts ensured the event’s success.

of the university, President Prof. Rajita Kulkarni, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.)
Tej Partap and Director Operations Swami Satyachaitanya congratulated the
