When the Earth Spoke, the Youth Listened: A Climate Awakening at Sri Sri University
On the
gentle morning of 6th December 2025, the halls of Sri Sri University echoed
with more than voices, they resonated with purpose. In a powerful collaboration
between the Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides wing, Sattvic Soul Foundation
and the Rover & Ranger Unit of Sri Sri University, an inspiring session
unfolded, one that called upon the youth to rise as guardians of the Earth and
architects of a sustainable future.
The day
was illuminated by the presence of Mr. Satyabrata Samal, revered as the “Climate
Man of Odisha.” Founder and Director of Sattvic Soul Foundation, he arrived not
merely as a speaker, but as a messenger of hope. Through words shaped by lived
experience and unwavering conviction, he painted vivid pictures of a planet in
distress, and a generation powerful enough to heal it. His message flowed like
a quiet storm, stirring hearts, awakening responsibility and reminding every
listener that climate action begins with courage and compassion. As his stories
unfolded, the students listened not as spectators, but as future leaders. They
heard of innovation rooted in empathy, of leadership born from service and of
change that starts small yet ripples endlessly. In that moment, the line
between learning and action dissolved, replaced by a shared resolve to protect
the Earth that sustains us.
More than
65 passionate students from NSS, the Rover & Ranger Unit and diverse
student clubs gathered as one collective force. Their curiosity burned bright
as they explored pathways to transform ideas into impact, particularly through
guidance on crafting meaningful submissions for the Young Climate Champions
Awards, under the esteemed 13th Earth Care Awards by JSW & The Times of
India. For many, this was not just preparation, it was the birth of belief. The
spirit of the day was further strengthened by the presence and support of EARTHDAY.ORG,
whose awareness programme served as a gentle yet urgent reminder that the Earth
does not ask for applause, it asks for action. With the seamless efforts of
volunteers and organisers, the campus became a living canvas of collaboration,
care and commitment.
As the
session drew to a close, one truth lingered in the air: the future is not
inherited, it is created. This collective initiative stood firmly aligned with
the global call of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, advancing SDG
13: ‘Climate Action’ and SDG 15: ‘Life on Land.’ And so, with awakened minds
and determined hearts, the youth of Sri Sri University stepped forward not just
as students, but as stewards of the planet. For when the Earth whispers its
pain, it is the youth who must rise and answer.
