Sri Sri University: Where Dreams Awaken, and Destinies Change

In the quiet alleys of Mugagahira village in Badamba block of Cuttack district, a story was unfolding - quietly, patiently, like a seed germinating in the dark soil. That seed was Akshay Kumar Panda. Born into the modest household of a small-scale farmer, Suryamani Panda, Akshay’s life was etched with struggle from the very beginning. For someone whose daily reality was shaped by scarcity, dreaming was a luxury, yet he dared.

The odds were many. The meager income of his family left no room for academic ambition. Yet fate had other plans. In 2017, Akshay stepped out of his village, seeking livelihood, unaware that his path would lead to a place where dreams take flight - Sri Sri University.

Welcomed into the Sri Sri University family as a security guard, Akshay found more than just a job. He found hope. Surrounded by the energy of learning and transformation, something within him stirred. Even as he stood guard, he watched young students walk into classrooms, carrying aspirations similar to his own. That’s when he knew - his story wasn’t finished, it was just beginning.

Despite his responsibilities toward his elder sister and aging parents, Akshay chose not to surrender to circumstances. During the stillness of the COVID-19 lockdown, a powerful resolve began to form. He enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program under the Open Distance Learning mode of Sri Sri University. A sum of ₹42,000, payable over six semesters, stood between him and his dream… but nothing would deter him.

Today, at just 25, Akshay embodies quiet courage. He balances night shifts and textbooks, fatigue and ambition, work and study. And he does it all not with complaint, but with clarity. “I don’t see it as a burden,” he says. “It’s a challenge… and I embrace it.”

He extends his heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Rajiv Sharma, Head of the Department of Safety & Security, for his constant encouragement to excel academically and his willingness to help with any challenges. He is also deeply grateful to Sk. Abdul Wasim, Assistant Section Officer, for his continued support of his academic journey. Special thanks go to the entire university administration, particularly to Director  Operations, Swami Satyachaitanya for their belief in him. With their support, Akshay is not merely pursuing a degree; he is building a future for himself, his family and the community he represents.

But Akshay is not alone. In the serene village of Kadajit under the Brahmagiri block of Puri district, another young man carries a similar flame - Akash Samantaray, a laboratory technician at Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Sciences and Research Hospital, a constituent unit of Sri Sri University.

The journey of Akash is equally inspiring. From excelling in matriculation at Atibadi Jagannath Das Vidyapith to completing his Honours in Zoology, he always pursued education with devotion. But ambition doesn’t end with a degree. Working within the vibrant ecosystem of Sri Sri University only ignited his desire for further learning.

Though the university didn’t offer a pharmacy course, his interest in the medical field led him to enroll in a Diploma in Pharmacy at Puri College of Pharmacy in 2022 - a program he is now close to completing. Yet he credits his academic success and personal growth to the environment, support and mentorship he receives at Sri Sri University.

Akash speaks with deep reverence of Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panda, Dean and Administrative Officer, whose visionary leadership, he says, transformed his entire perspective on learning and life. He fondly recalls the unwavering support he received during the early years of his career from Sandhya Sadhana Madam, a former Administrative Officer, whose guidance left a lasting impact. Alongside her, he holds in high esteem the encouragement and inspiration provided by Prof. Dr. Durga Prasad Dash, Prof. Alekh Chandra Mohanty, and Dr. Debasish Satpathy, all of whom played instrumental roles in shaping his professional journey.

For Akash, Sri Sri University is not merely a workplace. It is a canvas where his potential found colour. It is the soil in which his dreams took root. “Had I not been part of this institution,” he says, “balancing work and studies would have been next to impossible.”

And these are not isolated tales.

ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ: ଯେଉଁଠି ସତ ହୁଏ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ, ଭାଗ୍ୟର ହୁଏ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ

ନାଁ’ଟି ତାଙ୍କର ଅକ୍ଷୟ କୁମାର ପଣ୍ଡା, ଘର କଟକ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ବଡ଼ମ୍ବା ବ୍ଲକର ମୁଗଗହୀର ଗାଁ । ବାପା ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟମଣି ପଣ୍ଡା ଜଣେ କ୍ଷୁଦ୍ର ଚାଷୀ । ନିଜ ସୀମିତ ଆୟ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ପଢ଼ାଇବା ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ହୁଏତ ତାଙ୍କର ପୂରଣ ହୋଇପାରି ନ ଥାନ୍ତା, ଯଦି ସେ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ସଂସ୍ପର୍ଶରେ ଆସି ନ ଥାନ୍ତେ କି ଏଠାରେ ନିରାପତ୍ତା ରକ୍ଷୀ ଭାବରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରି ନ ଥାନ୍ତେ । ଆଜ୍ଞା ହଁ, ପିଲାଟି ଦିନରୁ ଦାରିଦ୍ର୍ୟକୁ ନିଜ ସହଚର ଭାବରେ ଦେଖି ଆସିଥିବା ଅକ୍ଷୟଙ୍କର ଘରେ ଜଣେ ବଡ଼ ଭଉଣୀ ଅଛନ୍ତି । ବାପାଙ୍କର ସେଭଳି ବିଶେଷ ଆୟ ଉପାୟ ନ ଥିବାରୁ, ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ପୂରା ପରିବାରର ବୋଝ ଅକ୍ଷୟଙ୍କ ଉପରେ । ତେଣୁ ପରିବାରର ବୋଝକୁ ଏଡ଼ି ନ ଦେଇ ତାକୁ ସାଦରେ ମୁଣ୍ଡ ଉପରକୁ ଉଠାଇବାକୁ ଆଜିକୁ ଆଠବର୍ଷ ତଳେ, 2017 ମସିହାରେ ବାହାରକୁ ଗୋଡ଼ କାଢ଼ିଥିଲେ ଅକ୍ଷୟ ।

ଆଉ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ତା’ଙ୍କୁ କୋଳେଇ ନେଇଥିଲା । ମ୍ୟାଟ୍ରିକ୍ ପରେ ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନେଶ୍ୱର ଆଞ୍ଚଳିକ କନିଷ୍ଠ ମହାବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟରୁ ଯୁକ୍ତ ଦୁଇ ପାସ୍ କରିବା ପରେ ସେ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟକୁ ଆସିଥିଲେ । ତାଙ୍କ ଯୋଗ୍ୟତାକୁ ଦେଖି ତାଙ୍କୁ ଏଠାରେ ନିରାପତ୍ତା ରକ୍ଷୀ ଚାକିରୀ ଖଣ୍ଡିକ ମଧ୍ୟ ମିଳିଯାଇଥିଲା । ତେବେ ନିଜ ସୀମିତ ଆୟ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପରିବାର ପୋଷୁଥିବା ଅକ୍ଷୟ କୋଭିଡ୍ ଓ ଲକ୍ ଡାଉନ୍ ସମୟରୁ ହିଁ ଚିନ୍ତା କରୁଥିଲେ ଅଧିକ କିଛି କରିବେ । ନିଜର ଏକ ବ୍ୟବସାୟ ଓ ଦୁଇଟି ଗାଡ଼ି କରିବାର ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଦେଖୁଥିବା ଅକ୍ଷୟ ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ତାକୁ ପୂରଣ କରିବା ରାସ୍ତାରେ ପାଦ ବଢ଼ାଇଛନ୍ତି । ସେ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଗତ ଦୂରଶିକ୍ଷା (ଓପନ୍ ଡିଷ୍ଟାନ୍ସ ଲର୍ଣ୍ଣିଂ) ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ବିବିଏ ପାଠ୍ୟକ୍ରମରେ ନାମ ଲେଖାଇଛନ୍ତି । ଅବଶ୍ୟ ଏଥିପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରତି ସେମିଷ୍ଟର ପିଛା 7 ହଜାର ଟଙ୍କା ହିସାବରେ ସମୁଦାୟ 42 ହଜାର ଟଙ୍କା ଦେବାକୁ ହେବ ।

ତେବେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ମାତ୍ର 25 ବର୍ଷ ବୟସ ଓ ଆଗକୁ ଏକ ଉଜ୍ଜ୍ୱଳ ଭବିଷ୍ୟତ ଥିବାରୁ ସେ ଖର୍ଚ୍ଚକୁ ପରବାୟ ନ କରି ନିଜ ଉଚ୍ଚଶିକ୍ଷାକୁ ପ୍ରାଥମିକତା ଦେଇଛନ୍ତି । ଅବଶ୍ୟ ଏଥିପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ନିୟମିତ ଭାବରେ ନିଜର ନିରାପତ୍ତା ରକ୍ଷୀ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବା ସାଙ୍ଗକୁ ପାଠ ମଧ୍ୟ ପଢ଼ିବାକୁ ପଢୁଥିବା ଅକ୍ଷୟ କହନ୍ତି । ତେବେ ଏହାକୁ ଏକ ବୋଝ ଭାବରେ ମନେ ନ କରି ଏକ ଆହ୍ୱାନ ଭାବରେ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିବା ଓ ଏହାକୁ ଦୃଢ଼ ଭାବରେ ସମ୍ମୁଖୀନ ହେଉଥିବା କଥା ସେ କହିଛନ୍ତି । ତାଙ୍କୁ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟରେ ବିବିଏ ପାଠ୍ୟକ୍ରମରେ ନାମ ଲେଖାଇବାକୁ ସମ୍ପୃକ୍ତ ବିଭାଗର ଆସିଷ୍ଟାଣ୍ଟ ସେକ୍ସନ ଅଫିସର ସେକ୍ ଅବଦୁଲ ୱାସିମ୍ ପ୍ରେରିତ କରିଥିବାରୁ ତାଙ୍କପ୍ରତି କୃତଜ୍ଞତା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତ କରିଛନ୍ତି ଅକ୍ଷୟ । ଏହା ବ୍ୟତୀତ ତାଙ୍କ ବିଭାଗର ବିଭାଗୀୟ ମୁଖ୍ୟ ଶ୍ରୀଯୁକ୍ତ ରାଜୀବ ଶର୍ମାଙ୍କର ମଧ୍ୟ ଅକ୍ଷୟଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ  ରହିଛି ବିଶେଷ ଅବଦାନ । ତାଙ୍କୁ ସର୍ବଦା ପଢ଼ାପ୍ରତି ଉତ୍ସାହିତ କରି ଆସିଥିବା ଶ୍ରୀଯୁକ୍ତ ଶର୍ମା କହନ୍ତି, କୌଣସି ପ୍ରକାର ଆବଶ୍ୟକତା ପଡ଼ିଲେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ନଶ୍ଟିତ ରୂପେ ଜଣାଇବାକୁ, କାରଣ ସେ ଅକ୍ଷୟଙ୍କୁ ପାରୁପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ କରିବେ । ଏଥିସହ ଅକ୍ଷୟଙ୍କୁ ନୈତିକ ରୂପେ ସମର୍ଥନ ଦେଇଥିବା ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟର ସମସ୍ତ କର୍ତ୍ତୃପକ୍ଷଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସେ କୃତଜ୍ଞ ଏବଂ ବିଶେଷକରି ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟର କାର୍ମିକ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦେଶକ ସ୍ୱାମୀ ସତ୍ୟଚୈତନ୍ୟଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସେ ଋଣୀ ରହିବେ ବୋଲି କହିଛନ୍ତି ।

ସେମିତି ଆଉଜଣେ ହେଲେ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଗତ “ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ କଲେଜ ଅଫ୍ ଆୟୂର୍ବେଦିକ ସାଇନ୍ସ ଆଣ୍ଡ୍ ରିସର୍ଚ୍ଚ ହସ୍ପିଟାଲ”ରେ ଲାବୋରେଟରୀ ଟେକ୍ନିସିଆନ୍ ଭାବରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟରତ ଆକାଶ ସାମନ୍ତରାୟ । ଘର ପୁରୀ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ବ୍ରହ୍ମଗିରି ବ୍ଲକ୍ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଗତ କଡ଼ାଜିତ୍ ପଞ୍ଚାୟତର କଡ଼ାଜିତ ଗାଁରେ । ପରିବାରରେ ବାପା-ମାଆ ଓ ଦୁଇଭାଇଙ୍କୁ ନେଇ ଛୋଟ ପରିବାର । ସାନଭାଇ ମଧ୍ୟ ଅଟୋମୋବାଇଲ୍ ଇଞ୍ଜିନିୟରିଂରେ ଡିପ୍ଲୋମା ପଢୁଛି । ଆକାଶ ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ କପିଳେଶ୍ୱରପୁରସ୍ଥିତ ଅତିବଡ଼ି ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ଦାସ ବିଦ୍ୟାପୀଠରୁ ମ୍ୟାଟ୍ରିକ ପରୀକ୍ଷାରେ ସଫଳତାର ସହ ପ୍ରଥମ ଶ୍ରେଣୀରେ ଉତ୍ତୀର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହୋଇଥିଲେ । ଏହାପରେ ଅଲାରନାଥ ଧନ୍ଦାମୂଳକ ମହାବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟରୁ ଯୁକ୍ତ ଦୁଇ ବିଜ୍ଞାନ ବିଷୟରେ ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଶ୍ରେଣୀରେ ଉତ୍ତୀର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହେଲେ । ଏହାପରେ ହରିଶ୍ୱରଦେବ ଭୋକେସନାଲ ସାଇନ୍ସ କଲେଜରୁ ଯୁକ୍ତ ତିନି ବିଜ୍ଞାନରେ ପ୍ରାଣୀବିଜ୍ଞାନ ସମ୍ମାନ ରଖି ପଢ଼ିଲେ । ସେଠାରୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ପ୍ରଥମ ଶ୍ରେଣୀରେ ଉତ୍ତୀର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହେଲେ । ଏହାପରେ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ କଲେଜ୍ ଅଫ୍ ଆୟୂର୍ବେଦିକ ସାଇନ୍ସ ଆଣ୍ଡ୍ ରିସର୍ଚ୍ଚ ହସ୍ପିଟାଲରେ ଚାକିରୀ ପାଇବା ପରେ ଏଠାରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବା ଆରମ୍ଭ କଲେ ।

ତେବେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବା ଭିତରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାଙ୍କ ମନରୁ ଉଚ୍ଚଶିକ୍ଷା କିମ୍ବା ନିଜେ କରୁଥିବା ଚାକିରୀରେ ଅଧିକ ଶିକ୍ଷାଲାଭ କରିବାର ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ମଉଳି ଯାଇ ନ ଥିଲା । ତେଣୁ ସେ ଫାର୍ମାସୀରେ ଡିପ୍ଲୋମା କରିବାକୁ ମନସ୍ଥ କଲେ । ଯଦି ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟରେ ଫାର୍ମାସୀରେ ଡିପ୍ଲୋମା ପାଠ୍ୟକ୍ରମ ଥା’ନ୍ତା, ତେବେ ସେ ଏହିଠାରେ ହିଁ ଅଧ୍ୟୟନ କରିଥା’ନ୍ତେ । ମାତ୍ର ଏଠାରେ ସେହି ସୁବିଧା ଉପଲବ୍ଧ ନ ଥିବାରୁ ଆକାଶ ‘ପୁରୀ କଲେଜ ଅଫ୍ ଫାର୍ମାସୀ’ରେ ଡିପ୍ଲୋମା ଅଧ୍ୟୟନ କରୁଛନ୍ତି । ସେଠାରେ ଆକାଶ 2022 ମସିହାରେ ନାମ ଲେଖାଇଥିଲେ, ଆଉ ଏବେ ଏଥିରେ ଡିପ୍ଲୋମା ହାସଲ କରିବାକୁ ଯାଉଛନ୍ତି ।

ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ତାଙ୍କର କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକ୍ଷେତ୍ର ହୋଇଥିବା ବେଳେ ଆକାଶ ନିଜ ଡିନ୍ ତଥା ଆଡମିନିଷ୍ଟ୍ରେଟିଭ୍ ଅଫିସର ଡ. ପ୍ରଦୀପ କୁମାର ପଣ୍ଡାଙ୍କ ଅକୁ୍ଣ୍ଠିତ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ ସହଯୋଗ ପାଇଁ କୃତଜ୍ଞତା ଜଣାଇଛନ୍ତି । ଡ. ପଣ୍ଡାଙ୍କ ନେତୃତ୍ୱ ନେବାର ଦକ୍ଷତା ତାଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରଭାବିତ କରିଥିବା ଆକାଶ କହନ୍ତି । ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ କଲେଜ୍ ଅଫ୍ ଆୟୂର୍ବେଦିକ ସାଇନ୍ସ ଆଣ୍ଡ୍ ରିସର୍ଚ୍ଚ ହସ୍ପିଟାଲରେ ଅଦ୍ୟାବଧି ତାଙ୍କର ଚାରିବର୍ଷର ସ୍ୱଳ୍ପ ଚାକିରୀକାଳ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ସେ ଅନେକ କିଛି ଶିଖିଥିବା କହିଛନ୍ତି ଆକାଶ । ବିଶେଷକରି ପୂର୍ବରୁ ଏଠାରେ ଆଡମିନିଷ୍ଟ୍ରେଟିଭ୍ ଅଫିସର ଥିବା ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା ସାଧନା ମ୍ୟାଡାମଙ୍କ ଅବଦାନ ତାଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଢେର୍ ଅଧିକ ବୋଲି କହନ୍ତି ଆକାଶ । ଖାଲି ସେତିକି ନୁହେଁ, ତାଙ୍କ କ୍ୟାରିଅର ପାଇଁ ଚିନ୍ତିତ ଥିବା ଓ ସବୁ ସମୟରେ ସାହାଯ୍ୟର ହାତ ବଢ଼ାଉଥିବା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପ୍ରଫେସର ଡ. ଦୁର୍ଗାପ୍ରସାଦ ଦାଶ, ପ୍ରଫେସର ଅଲେଖ ଚନ୍ଦ୍ର ମହାନ୍ତି ଓ ଡ. ଦେବାଶିଷ ଶତପଥୀଙ୍କ ଭୂମିକାକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ସେ କେବେହେଲେ ଭୁଲିପାରିବେ ନାହିଁ ବୋଲି ଆକାଶ କହନ୍ତି । ତେବେ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରୁଥିବା ଯୋଗୁଁ ହିଁ ଏଭଳି ସ୍ୱର୍ଣ୍ଣିମ ଅବସର ପାଇଲେ ବୋଲି ଆକାଶଙ୍କ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ । ତା’ ନହେଲେ, କର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟ ସାଙ୍ଗକୁ ପାଠପଢ଼ା, ଦୁଇଟି ଦାୟିତ୍ୱ ତୁଲାଇବା ତାଙ୍କପାଇଁ କାଠିକର ହୋଇପଡ଼ନ୍ତା ବୋଲି ସେ ମତ ଦିଅନ୍ତି ।

ଇଏତ ଭାତ ହାଣ୍ଡିରୁ କେବଳ ଗୋଟିଏ କି ଦୁଇଟି ଚିପିବା ପରି କଥା । ଖୋଜିଲେ ଆହୁରି ଏଭଳି ଅନେକ ଉଦାହରଣ ମିଳିଯିବେ, ଯେଉଁମାନେ ନିଜ ସୌରଭରେ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ କ୍ୟାମ୍ପସକୁ ସୁବାସିତ କରିଛନ୍ତି ଓ ତାହାର ଅଯାଚିତ ଦାନରେ ନିଜେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଋଣୀ ହୋଇଛନ୍ତି । ସତରେ ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ କେବଳ ଏକ ଶିକ୍ଷାୟତନ ନୁହେଁ, ଏକ ପରିବାର, ଏକ ଆନ୍ଦୋଳନ !
